Teletherapy Logistical Details

Session Requirements
 
  • Computer (with working camera and microphone)
  • High-speed connection
  • Headset (optional, but recommended)
  • External mouse (optional, but recommended)
  • Ability to attend, sit up, hear, and see monitor
  • Presence and participation of an adult facilitator
  • Role of Adult Facilitator
    • Getting client to appropriate therapy location
    • Getting client logged in correctly and on time
    • Stay for duration of session and reduce background distractions
    • Trouble-shooting technical difficulties
    • Therapist’s eyes and hands- requiring close communication between facilitator and therapist
Online Video Conferencing

 
ABG uses Zoom, a HIPAA compliant (meaning-privacy standards) online video conferencing platform. This ensures:
  • End-to-end encryption enabled for all meetings
  • Encrypted chat enable
  • Adheres to the guidelines of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
  • Is compatible with both Windows and Mac.

Installing Zoom
 
  • Go to www.zoom.us
  • Sign up for a free account
    • Use an email address
    • Follow directions provided by the website (including responding to their “activation of account” email). 
  • Please ensure Zoom is installed in advance of your ABG appointment.
  • An invitation to join the meeting will be emailed to you the day of your appointment by your ABG therapist.

Once Zoom is installed successfully, contact us for your first appointment.
Join the Meeting

General Directions
  • Open the invitation email. Click on the link labeled “Join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android”
  • You may receive a REDIRECT NOTICE stating “The previous page is sending you to https://zoom.us/j/#########.” Please click on the link if it does not automatically redirect you.
  • Your screen will then state “Your meeting should start in a few seconds…”
  • If your therapist is not already in the meeting, you may receive a pop-up windows stating “Please wait for the host to start this meeting.”
  • Once your therapist has joined the virtual meeting, your therapy appointment will start. It may take a few minutes for the session to load.
  • If prompted, click on “Join Audio Conference by Computer”

Alternate Directions Using the Zoom Website (PC steps)
  • Go to www.zoom.us
  • Click on “Join a Meeting” at the top of the page.
  • Enter the Meeting ID number provided in your email. The Meeting ID number is a 9-11 digit number found at the end of the link provided in the email. You should see “https://zoom/us/j/#########.” The 9-11 number at the end is your meeting ID number.
  • Your screen will then state “Your meeting should start in a few seconds…”
  • If your therapist is not already in the meeting, you may receive a pop-up windows stating “Please wait for the host to start this meeting.”

  • Click on “Join a Meeting”
