LINDA BOUSKA, M.A., CCC-SLP
Linda has provided speech-language therapy for children and adults with hearing impairments for eleven years. She utilizes the Auditory/Oral and the
Auditory/Verbal approaches to communication and teaches clients to maximize use of their residual hearing through hearing aids or cochlear implants.
The Auditory/Oral approach may utilize speech reading and lip reading. The Auditory/Verbal approach emphasizes early identification and audiologic
management of the hearing loss. Parent guidance during one-to-one therapy with the child plays an important part in therapy as parents and caretakers
are the primary role models for language development. This approach teaches children and parents to listen speech closely, monitoring intelligibility.
The child’s inclusion in the general classroom for educational and social purposes is also an important facet of this therapeutic approach.
